Milan ace to hold talks over future but positive hint given by agent

AC Milan midfielder Adrien Rabiot has revealed his intention to speak with Ruben Amorim later this summer, but it’s been suggested that he will stay with us next season.

The 31-year-old arrived from Marseille last summer and went on to make 32 appearances for us last season, scoring six goals and providing five assists to go with his overall influence in midfield.

However, with Amorim arriving last month to replace former boss Massimiliano Allegri, there are question marks over who in the current squad fits into his plans moving forward.

It seems Rabiot does, and while the French international intends to speak with the Portuguese tactician when his World Cup campaign comes to an end, MilanNews reports that his agent, who is also his mother, hinted at the same time that his future is likely to be with the Rossoneri still.

“We’ll talk later,” Rabiot is quoted as saying in the report above.

With his experience and quality, it’s understandable why Amorim might want the Frenchman to stay on, as he looks for a balance in his squad between a stalwart presence and bringing talented youngsters through.

While the report above suggests that there is a positive tone at this stage over Rabiot continuing with Milan, much will of course depend on how those talks go with Amorim and the club’s hierarchy later this summer, and the wait could yet continue into August with France securing their place in the semi-finals of the World Cup in the USA, while he’ll no doubt be given an extended break after it concludes.

For Amorim, the sooner he can sort out his current options the better as that will give the club a clearer picture on where we might need to strengthen and address ahead of the new season, and Rabiot won’t be the only player who holds talks with the Milan boss in the coming weeks.

What seems fairly certain at this point is that we will see many more incomings and outgoings before the transfer window closes, as we begin this new cycle by building a squad that is as suited to Amorim’s preferred system and style of play as possible.
