Having been far from full strength for most of the campaign thus far, Pioli will be hoping to get a fully-fit squad together as soon as possible, and he’s been handed some positive news in midweek.
As reported by MilanNews, Ibrahimovic, Calabria and Rade Krunic all joined up with the rest of the squad in training at Milanello on Thursday, thus suggesting that they are stepping up their respective recoveries and moving towards being at Pioli’s disposal this weekend.
It’s added in the report that Calabria is expected to recover in time to face Verona and is further ahead than the other two, while Ibrahimovic may well have to be content with a place on the bench.
Nevertheless, it’s a huge boost seeing our talismanic frontman edging closer to a return as given his influence and quality in the final third for us, it will make a significant difference to our attack to have him back in the mix and leading the line.
Time will tell if he gets the green light from the medical staff on Saturday, but it would certainly be a welcome sight to see him get minutes in the latter stages to help him work back towards regaining full match fitness and subsequently be available for Milan across all competitions at a crucial time of the season leading up to the festive period.
