Contact made as Milan look to strengthen attacking options

AC Milan have reportedly made contact with Roma over the potential signing of forward Tammy Abraham this summer.

The 26-year-old joined the Giallorossi in August 2021, and has since gone on to score 37 goals and provide 13 assists in 119 appearances for the club.

It follows on from positive spells at Chelsea and Aston Villa, although he did miss most of last season after suffering a serious knee injury.

Nevertheless, according to Fabrizio Romano, Milan have made contact over a possible deal, and it’s noted that Abraham would be keen on joining us.

It’s an important summer for the Rossoneri in terms of strengthening our options up front and bringing in long-term solutions, particularly after Olivier Giroud’s exit, which has left us very short in that department.

While Luka Jovic’s deal was extended, Romano notes that Milan want three strikers for next season with Alvaro Morata also on our transfer radar, and so it remains to be seen if our preferred options arrive for Paulo Fonseca ahead of the new campaign.

A combination of Morata, Abraham and Jovic would give us different dynamics in the final third as well as competition and depth, and if we are to close the gap on rivals Inter in the battle for the Scudetto next season as well as compete in the Champions League, we’ll certainly need to bring in reinforcements.

Importantly, they’ll also need to suit the style of play and system that Fonseca will implement, and so if he has approved of our touted shortlist to add firepower to the squad, it’s hoped that they arrive and prove to be astute additions, both in the short and long term future.

There is a general consensus that Milan need to improve in various positions this summer, and so if we have indeed identified our priority targets, we’ll hopefully reach agreements relatively swiftly in order to allow us switch our focus elsewhere too.
