Key issue addressed as Milan confirm latest summer signing, details of deal touted

AC Milan have officially announced the signing of Strahinja Pavlovic from RB Salzburg, in a deal said to be worth an initial €18m.

The Rossoneri have had a slow start to the summer transfer window, but things appear to be picking up pace following the signing of Alvaro Morata earlier this month.

As confirmed by the club’s statement, Milan have now completed the signing of Pavlovic, with the 23-year-old centre-half putting pen to paper on a contract until 2028, with an option to extend for a further year.

The club add that the Serbian international will wear the No.31 shirt, and so now all that remains to be seen is when he’s able to link up with his new teammates to start to adapt and integrate himself into Paulo Fonseca’s side.

Having established himself as a pivotal figure for club and country over the past couple of seasons, Pavlovic is now set for a step up as he’ll look to establish himself as an integral figure in the Milan backline.

Given our poor defensive record last season, reinforcements in that department were undoubtedly needed, and so it’s hoped that our latest summer recruit will be able to not only help shore things up at the back, but emerge as a great fit for Fonseca’s system, style of play and structure to become an influential cog in our starting line-up.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Milan have paid an initial €18m to prise him away from Salzburg, while the deal includes add-ons worth around €2m.

Given his age and potential, it’s hoped that this proves to be an astute piece of business from Milan, as the aim is obviously to add a player capable of being a fundamental presence in the XI for many years to come. Fonseca has evidently seen something he likes in him, and so it’s hoped he’ll be able to develop and improve under the Portuguese tactician.

With his physical and no-nonsense defensive style coupled with his ability on the ball to help us build play out from the back as well as the balance that he’ll bring as a left-sided centre-half, this has the makings of being a great addition to the squad, and we’ll hopefully get to see Pavlovic in action and start to settle in over the course of pre-season.
