Official: AC Milan confirm signing of Alessandro Florenzi on permanent basis

AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Alessandro Florenzi from Roma on a permanent basis.

The 31-year-old joined the Rossoneri on loan last season, going on to make 30 appearances across all competitions and playing an important part in our Serie A title success.

With that in mind, Stefano Pioli will be pleased to know that Milan have signed the Italian stalwart on a permanent deal to extend their time working together, with his contract running until June 2025, as per the club’s official statement.

Florenzi’s experience, pedigree at a high level and leadership have all proven to be valuable attributes that he has brought to Milan since arriving at San Siro, while his versatility will also prove to be useful as we look to continue to compete on multiple fronts moving forward.

Having filled in and done a job for Pioli when required, he is undoubtedly a valued member of the squad and following on from this announcement, he will continue to be so at least until the end of next season too.

With Milan agreeing on renewals for Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara this weekend, the signing of Florenzi follows quickly on from that announcement and it’s hoped that our activity in this transfer window now begins to ramp up following a frustratingly slow start to the summer.

For now though, keeping the current group in place as much as possible and maintaining that crucial balance between youth and experience is key, and Florenzi extending his stay at Milan is a positive and sensible move from the club.
