Talented Milan youngsters will get chance to impress Conceicao

AC Milan boss Sergio Conceicao has called up seven players from Milan Futuro as he assesses his options at the club.

The Portuguese tactician was appointed as the new Rossoneri coach on Monday, and it’s likely to have been a whirlwind first few days in charge for him as we prepare for the Italian Super Cup in Riyadh.

Speaking at his introductory press conference on Tuesday, Conceicao responded to a question about the January transfer market, and he made it clear that his first priority is to assess what he already has at his disposal at the club.

That includes the young talent coming through with Milan Futuro, and he has backed up his words by calling up seven players to travel with the squad to Saudi Arabia.

“As for the transfer market, I want to get to know the First Team and Milan Futuro first. Then we’ll see,” he told the media.

Alex Jimenez, Francesco Camarda, Kevin Zeroli, Davide Bartesaghi, Silvano Vos, Noah Raveyre and Chaka Traore have all made the trip, as per MilanNews, and so not only is it encouraging to see the Milan boss back up his words, but it will be fascinating to see if those named are able to impress him in training during the trip to earn a place in his plans for the rest of this season.

Naturally, he’ll want to stamp his mark on the squad and bring in his own players where possible, but it’s crucial given the talent available to him already, that he’s able to get the best out of them first, as we’ve underachieved and underwhelmed so far this season, and more is needed from those already at the club.

Milan have a talented crop of young players coming through currently, and the establishment of Milan Futuro was a critical step in the right direction to give them a chance to play regularly at a higher level and develop into first-team players.

It’s hoped that for those who are ultimately good enough to make that step up, Conceicao will reward them by integrating them into his squad in the coming months.
