What Ruben Amorim said after Milan appointment officially confirmed

AC Milan have officially announced the appointment of Ruben Amorim as our new Head Coach following the departure of Massimiliano Allegri.

Key changes are being made this summer after a disappointing campaign last year which saw us eventually miss out on Champions League qualification, and the Rossoneri have moved quickly to put in place a new boss to lead the rebuild moving forward.

Further crucial appointments will be needed in the hierarchy, but for now, Amorim arrives following a highly successful spell in charge of Sporting, and although his time at Manchester United ultimately didn’t work out, it’s hoped that he can use that experience moving forward to ensure that this is a much more fruitful spell in charge with Milan.

As per the club’s statement, Amorim has been appointed as our new Head Coach, and the Portuguese tactician gave his first words having now been unveiled.

“There are ambitions that stay with you throughout your career, and coaching AC Milan has always been one of mine,” he told the club’s site.

“I know exactly what this Club means: history, prestige and an extraordinary fanbase around the world. It is a challenge I embrace with pride and enthusiasm, fully aware of what these colors represent. I can’t wait to get started and to experience every day the passion that drives AC Milan.”

It’s hoped that a fresh start and challenge for both Amorim and Milan is exactly what is needed, and that it proves to be a successful and ideal fit in terms of developing a clear style and identity that delivers positive results.

As noted above, the expectation is that a Head of Football will soon be appointed as well to lead the way on recruitment, and so there must undoubtedly be a synergy between that individual and Amorim moving forward to ensure that the vision aligns at all levels, and we’re building the squad he needs to get his ideas across and ultimately to get them to work.

All new coaching appointments come with a sense of excitement over what the future might hold, and while there are arguably plenty of questions to be answered both with Amorim and Milan’s more recent past, we’ve hopefully made a very smart decision in appointing him as Allegri’s successor.
