AC Milan have reportedly made an improved offer to Rafael Leao as we look to agree on a contract renewal with the Portuguese winger.
Leao, 23, was pivotal for us in our Scudetto success last season as he bagged 14 goals and 12 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

He has continued to lead the way for us in this campaign too with seven goals and nine assists in 20 outings thus far, and so it’s clear that he has taken a big step forward in his career and is starting to fulfil his potential.
Naturally, there is still improvement to come and more consistency needed, but there is absolutely no doubt as to how important he is for Stefano Pioli as the Rossoneri look to build on last season’s success and continue to make progress.
With his current deal expiring in June 2024, it’s clear that Milan need to move now to avoid any drama over his future, be it signing a new long-term deal that he intends to see out or putting ourselves in a strong position to demand a huge fee if a departure becomes a more pressing concern.
In turn, it’s smart from the club to prioritise a new deal, and according to Fabrizio Romano, we’ve now improved our contract offer to Leao which will see him earn €7m per season net, if he agrees.
It’s added that the Rossoneri hope to get an agreement sorted in the coming weeks, but time will tell if that satisfies Leao from a financial point of view, as he has publicly stated since the World Cup that he is happy at the club.
Further, Romano goes on to add in his tweet, via Gianluca Di Marzio, that Milan want to agree new deals with Ismael Bennacer and Olivier Giroud too, and so we look to be trying to solidify our current squad to start this month before considering new signings.
Given how instrumental that trio have been for us, it makes sense. That said, Pioli will surely be hoping to see some reinforcements arrive this month too.
