Key Milan signing confirmed to address glaring void, touted fee and contract details

AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Pervis Estupinan from Brighton as our replacement for Theo Hernandez at left-back.

After the Frenchman’s departure this summer, it was clear that signing a new solution in that position would become a priority for the Rossoneri and Massimiliano Allegri as we continue to rebuild the squad.

As per the club’s official statement, Estupinan has now joined Milan from Brighton, and has put pen to paper on a contract that will run until June 2030. Further, they note that the Ecuadorian international will wear the No.2 shirt.

It has previously been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Milan have paid €17m with €2m in add-ons to follow, and so hopefully the 27-year-old proves to be a wise investment to fill the void left behind by Hernandez and continues to give us a crucial attacking dynamic down the left side along with a more solid defensive presence.

Estupinan has had spells at LDU Quito, Udinese, Almeria, Watford, Mallorca, Osasuna and Villarreal, but after joining Brighton in 2022, he has gone on to shine and has earned 48 caps for Ecuador.

He made 104 appearances for the Premier League outfit, scoring five goals and providing 14 assists to go with his defensive duties, and so it’s hoped that he can become an important addition and effective fit for what Allegri is building at Milan this summer.

The left-back becomes our third signing of the summer to follow the arrivals of Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric, and so we’re hopefully seeing an important and ultimately successful evolution of the group, with Allegri looking to implement his ideas and style of play to ensure that we’re much more competitive this season and beyond.

With the expectation that Milan’s business in the transfer window is far from over both in terms of incomings and outgoings, it will be fascinating to see our new recruits integrate into the team over pre-season, and it’s hoped that they’re ready to make a vital contribution when the new Serie A campaign gets underway next month.
