AC Milan are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Paulo Fonseca as he looks set to be confirmed as Stefano Pioli’s successor.
The Rossoneri confirmed that the Italian tactician took charge of his final game this past weekend, as his five-year tenure comes to a close and we look ahead to a new cycle at the club.

It’s a critical decision that Milan have to get right in order to ensure that we improve on this last campaign and move in the right direction to become more competitive, and it appears as though the hierarchy have settled on their preferred appointment.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Fonseca will sign a two-year deal until 2026 worth €2.5m per year, while there will be an option to extend for a further 12 months included in the terms of the agreement.
It’s added that an agreement is expected soon, and so we’ll look ahead to the 51-year-old becoming our new coach and trying to mastermind a significant improvement in our performances and results on the pitch.
After spells at Porto, Braga, Shakhtar Donetsk, Roma and Lille, the Portuguese coach has gained valuable knowledge and experience across Europe during his managerial career, and although he hasn’t had much tangible success outside of his spell at Shakhtar, it remains to be seen if he’s the right fit for Milan.
A whole host of names have been linked with the post in recent weeks, and perhaps for many, this will come as an underwhelming appointment as it was hoped that we would make a more inspiring choice that could transform the club moving forward.
Nevertheless, Fonseca, should he indeed get the job now as expected, will be intent on proving that it was the right decision, and it’s hoped that it leads to improvement and development of the squad to ensure we’re competitive and challenging for major honours again next season while playing an identity and attractive brand of football.
