AC Milan have reportedly made progress in talks with Olivier Giroud over a potential one-year contract extension.
The 36-year-old has been a key figure for the Rossoneri since his arrival from Chelsea in July 2021, scoring 26 goals and providing 10 assists in 72 appearances across all competitions.

Combined with his experience, leadership and the qualities that he brings to the team when leading the line and linking our play together, there is little doubt that he continues to play a fundamental role for us, and so question marks have been raised over his future given his current deal expires in the summer.
With 12 goals and six assists in 34 outings so far this season, he has shown he can still make an important contribution, especially with a lack of alternative options for us in that department, and so it would surely make sense from the club’s perspective to try and extend his stay.
According to MilanNews, progress has been made after the latest meeting over his future, as it’s suggested that there is optimism a new agreement will be reached, with the terms also touted for a one-year extension, with the option to extend for a further season, worth €4m-per-year.
Time will tell whether or not a deal will be finalised and announced, but there is certainly a positive sense from the latest round of talks between Giroud’s representatives and the club’s management that they will reach an agreement in the coming weeks.
It’s arguably a case of the sooner the better too as sorting out his future at the club will then allow Giroud to fully focus on matters on the pitch, as he will have a fundamental role to play for us in securing a top-four finish in Serie A, as well as going as far as possible in the Champions League.
Milan have had our struggles this season and there has certainly been plenty of disappointment in recent months, but there is still a lot to play for and it’s crucial we finish the campaign well now coming out of the international break.
