AC Milan news: Theo Hernandez, Kessie and Calabria contract renewals touted

AC Milan are reportedly set to take steps to secure the futures of Theo Hernandez, Franck Kessie and Davide Calabria with contract renewals.

Given technical director Paolo Maldini recently stated that all contract talks were on hold until the end of the season, as noted by MilanNews, it’s not expected that any concrete progress will be made in the coming weeks.

The Rossoneri are currently in a battle to qualify for the Champions League, and with just four games remaining in the current Serie A campaign, all minds will be focused purely on that in the coming weeks.

However, reports in Italy suggest that a trio of key players could be in line to earn new deals this summer, with the paper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport noting that Hernandez, Kessie and Calabria could all be offered new terms.

As reported by MilanNews via GdS, there is a lot of interest in Hernandez, but he wishes to stay with Milan and in turn it’s possible that he’ll be offered a new deal in order to extend his stay at the club beyond 2024.

Meanwhile, Kessie’s future with the Rossoneri isn’t up for debate either as the club will not entertain exit talks, and although it’s suggested that there is no rush on contract talks, with his current deal set to expire in 2022, it would arguably be wise if we initiated negotiations sooner rather than later.

Elsewhere, Calabria could also get an improved contract, as it’s suggested that Milan are pleased with his performance levels this season and so could look to reward him for it.

With Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu set to become free agents as soon as next month, they will no doubt be the priority when the season ends. However, it looks as though there could be a flurry of new contracts being handed out to try and keep the core of this squad together but much will perhaps hinge on our ability to qualify for the Champions League first.
