Boost for Milan as ace resumes group training after injury setback

AC Milan boss Paulo Fonseca was handed an injury boost in training this week ahead of our Serie A clash with Juventus on Saturday.

The Rossoneri currently sit in seventh place in the standings after 11 games with five wins, three draws and three defeats in our campaign thus far, as we now look to put a strong run of form together going into the festive period.

Ideally for Fonseca, he will have as close to a fully-fit squad as possible for that run, starting with a big showdown with Juventus this weekend.

As reported by MilanNews, there was good news this week as Matteo Gabbia returned to group training after his recent calf injury setback, and so that in turn now strengthens our options in the centre-half positions in the coming weeks if Fonseca is forced to either rotate or replace other key individuals.

Barring long-term absentees Ismael Bennacer and Alessandro Florenzi, Milan look in good shape from a fitness perspective now, and it’s hoped that it stays that way in the coming weeks and months as we look to build some momentum and move up the Serie A table.

It will certainly be a challenging period now though coming out of the international break, with the Rossoneri playing three games in the last week of November, before competing across multiple fronts with the Coppa Italia and Champions League on the schedule in December too in what is a packed fixture list.

In turn, it’s vital that we have strength in depth to not only cope with any possible fresh absentees, but also to have alternative tactical and personnel options to give us different solutions when necessary.

Gabbia, 25, has made seven appearances so far this season prior to his calf issue forcing him to miss our last five league outings, and so he’ll be desperate to stay fit and force his way back into the Milan XI in our upcoming games.
