Contact made as front-runner begins to emerge to be next Milan coach

AC Milan have reportedly made contact with Massimiliano Allegri’s representatives to discuss becoming our next coach.

The Rossoneri have moved quickly since the end of a disappointing season having already appointed Igli Tare as our new sporting director.

With that position filled, Tare can now oversee and influence other key decisions at various levels, including who will lead the team next season and how we can strengthen the squad after such an underwhelming and frustrating campaign last time round.

According to Antonio Vitiello, Milan have made contact with Allegri’s representatives on more than one occasion as we appear to be focusing in on our top candidate, while others have begun to be ruled out of contention due to either signing new contracts or securing a move elsewhere.

Bologna boss Vincenzo Italiano had previously been heavily linked with the post, but as per Fabrizio Romano, he’s now expected to pen an extension with the Rossoblu.

Time will tell if an agreement is reached between the two parties or not, and if it’s the latter, who Milan will turn to as our alternative option as we must make that decision as soon as possible to allow our new management team and coach to work together on making our squad more competitive in the summer transfer market.

Allegri, 57, of course has had a successful stint with the Rossoneri already between 2010 and 2014, leading us to the 2010/11 Serie A title as well as an Italian Super Cup triumph during a competitive stretch as we went close to further silverware under his stewardship.

He went on to enjoy plenty of additional success at Juventus but has been out of work since leaving our rivals last year, and so time will tell if his return to management comes with us, or if he takes up another option available to him.

Countless names have been paired with taking charge at Milan this summer, with the expectation being that Sergio Conceicao will be replaced as we open a new cycle and hopefully a successful era at the club off the back of a bitterly disappointing showing this past season.
