Agreement reached as key Milan figure set to sign new deal

AC Milan have reportedly reached an agreement on a contract renewal with Ismael Bennacer, which will keep him at the club until 2027.

The 25-year-old has made 127 appearances for the Rossoneri since his move from Empoli in 2019, as he has established himself as a fundamental player in Stefano Pioli’s side.

With his current contract set to expire in June 2024, it was imperative that Milan sorted out an extension before there was any concern over Bennacer’s future at the club, and it appears as though they’ve done just that.

According to Fabrizio Romano, as per his tweet below, Milan have reached an agreement with Bennacer on a renewal that will extend his stay with us until 2027, and the expectation is that it will be officially announced in the coming days.

Further, and perhaps a slight concern as ideally there wouldn’t be a release clause involved at all, it’s added that there will be a €50m release clause in the deal, just as there is in his current contract. According to MilanNews, Bennacer will earn €4m-a-year plus bonuses.

Given how important Bennacer is to Milan with the work he does in both phases of the game in midfield, it was crucial we kept him as part of our core moving forward as we look to build on the success of last season. His defensive work combined with his technical quality make him a vital link between defence and attack, and he is competing at a high level consistently.

His partnership with Sandro Tonali is also becoming a fundamental piece of the puzzle in building a team ready for long-term progression, and it’s hoped that as he continues to mature, gain experience playing in Europe and just improves in general, he’ll become an even bigger presence and leader on the pitch for us.

For now though, it’s great news that he’s set to sign a new deal, and he can then fully focus on his football and not have to worry about any doubts over his long-term future in a Milan shirt.
