Injury boost for Milan ahead of Bologna clash, trio doubtful after setbacks

AC Milan face Bologna in Serie A on Friday night, and Sergio Conceicao has received mixed news on the injury front ahead of the encounter.

The Rossoneri face our upcoming opponents twice in the span of five days, as following on from our league meeting on Friday night, we’ll compete for the Coppa Italia in the Final next Wednesday.

Naturally, the latter clash will be the more significant for both sides given the opportunity to win silverware, but ultimately the three points this week matter too, and so we must try to continue to build on our momentum and good recent form.

It would certainly help if Conceicao had a fully-fit squad to select from as it gives him alternative options to rotate and find tactical solutions, but he could be without a number of players, while others may well be rested to get them in peak condition for next week.

As per MilanNews, Tammy Abraham has handed us a boost as he trained with the rest of the group on Wednesday after missing our win over Genoa due to a muscle injury.

Along with Luka Jovic and Santiago Gimenez, there is competition for that spot to lead the Milan attack, and so all three players will be pushing hard over the next few days to convince Conceicao to give them the nod for the Final.

In contrast, Youssouf Fofana, Warren Bondo and Riccardo Sottil were absent from training as they continue to receive treatment following their respective injury setbacks, and while Fofana is of course the most significant blow given his importance in the Milan XI so far this season, it’s hoped that he can recover from a foot issue he sustained against Genoa over the next week to ensure he’s ready to play next Wednesday night in Rome.

With four wins in our last five games across all competitions and having conceded just two goals over that stretch, we’re starting to find some form and consistency. It’s hoped that Conceicao and the players can maintain that over the next two games in particular, but ultimately all the way through to the end of the campaign.
