AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has received an injury blow as Samuel Chukwueze’s season could be over due to a hamstring issue.
The 24-year-old has contributed three goals and three assists in 33 appearances this year following his arrival from Villarreal last summer, in what has been an underwhelming debut campaign.

That said, given the general struggles at Milan this season, it has been a difficult task to adapt and settle in the more general circumstances, but it had been hoped that he could finish with a flourish and build some momentum going into pre-season and next year.
However, according to MilanNews, the Nigerian international suffered a hamstring injury that forced him off at half-time in our 5-1 win over Cagliari this past weekend, and his season could be over, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Given that there’s only two games remaining and Milan have already secured second place as the best-case scenario following our struggles in recent months, it isn’t necessarily a major blow for Pioli.
Nevertheless, for the reasons detailed above, Chukwueze would have hoped to feature prominently in our final few games to try and cement his place in the side ahead of a potential, and widely touted, coaching change this summer, but it seems as though he won’t get that opportunity.
The report adds that he’ll undergo another MRI scan next week to determine how his recovery is going, but given the nature of the injury, it seems highly unlikely that he’ll get back on the pitch in the next week or so.
It remains to be seen how Pioli deals with that in terms of making a tweak to his starting line-up for our trip to Torino on Saturday night, but he does have options at his disposal to try and ensure we build on our much-improved attacking performance last time out and try to impress again.
