AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli will reportedly welcome back captain Alessio Romagnoli to the squad against Genoa this weekend.
The 26-year-old has missed the last four Serie A games due to a calf problem, but it appears as though he is now on the verge of being back in contention.

As reported by MilanNews, Romagnoli took part in the entire group training session on Monday, and so the expectation is that he will be at Pioli’s disposal on Sunday.
It’s unlikely that he will go straight back into the starting XI though given his lack of playing time in recent weeks coupled with the form and impressive partnership that is being built between Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori.
Meanwhile, MilanNews also provided updates on Davide Calabria and Daniel Maldini who have been sidelined with injury troubles too. The report notes that the pair carried out personalised training and so they will likely sit out this weekend, unless they make significant progress in their respective recoveries in the coming days.
Nevertheless, Pioli will arguably be pleased with the overall situation now given he is edging closer to having a full squad to choose from.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be missing on Sunday as he serves a ban following his red card against Parma, but with the likes of Rafael Leao, Mario Mandzukic and Brahim Diaz returning to the bench last time out, Milan have options to try and make up for that loss.
For now though, the biggest positive is that Romagnoli is back in the mix, and he’ll be hoping to reclaim his starting berth between now and the end of the season with healthy competition for places always welcome.
