AC Milan will host Monza at San Siro on Saturday and boss Stefano Pioli is hopeful that he will recover more key players from injury.
After playing a limited role so far this season, the likes of Divock Origi and Ante Rebic came on and played significant minutes in our win over Verona this past weekend, finally allowing Pioli to switch from Olivier Giroud up top and give our attack new dynamics.

With a busy fixture schedule set to continue in the coming weeks leading up to the World Cup break, Milan will need a healthy squad to continue to compete across multiple fronts and so there is potentially more good news ahead.
Speaking after our win over Verona, Pioli suggested that he is hopeful that a few more important individuals could be at his disposal again next weekend against Monza.
“I hope to recover Mike [Maignan], [Simon] Kjaer and Charles [De Ketelaere], because playing so often the mental energies are hard to recover and therefore I need many players,” he told DAZN, as per MilanNews.
It’s critical that we have multiple options in each department to cope with the schedule and so while we still have long-term absentees in Alessandro Florenzi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well as key figures such as Davide Calabria unavailable, it’s imperative that we get as many of them back as soon as possible.
Maignan’s presence between the posts has certainly been missed as he offers more quality with his distribution too in addition to his shot-stopping and Kjaer offers another solid option in the backline. While De Ketelaere hasn’t found his best form yet, he needs minutes to settle and so getting him back on the pitch will be crucial too.
Time will tell if they are all passed fit for Monza, but the signs are certainly positive from Pioli in terms of the suggestion that they will be in contention to make their respective comebacks next weekend.
