AC Milan have received positive news on the injury front after updates emerged on Mike Maignan and Pierre Kalulu on Thursday.
The Rossoneri got back to winning ways in midweek at Cagliari, but with a key showdown with Lazio ahead this weekend, it had been hoped that Stefano Pioli’s side would be a step closer to being as close to full strength as possible.

As per Antonio Vitiello, there is likely to be an important boost between the posts, as Maignan is expected to return, and so it ultimately remains to be seen if he gets the final green light and is named in the starting XI on Saturday.
Marco Sportiello has done a solid job in his absence with a clean sheet in our home win over Verona, while we conceded once at Cagliari, and so it hasn’t been as big a drop off as we last season in Maignan’s absence.
Nevertheless, such is the influence and impact that the Frenchman makes both with his goalkeeping qualities and distribution from the back, it’s vital we get him back healthy and that he’s a consistent presence in the side.
Meanwhile, Vitiello adds that Kalulu underwent medical checks on Thursday, and the Milan defensive ace is on schedule with his recovery and is expected back after the upcoming international break next month.
The partnership between Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori is a vital one for us as we hope that the centre-half pairing can provide a solid foundation, but Kalulu is a crucial option to have to step in, or at right-back with Alessandro Florenzi currently filling in for Davide Calabria.
With that versatility and what he brings to the team, Kalulu’s return will be a pivotal boost for Milan and Pioli, and so coupled with the update on Maignan, it’s good news this week as we look to now build momentum and put together a strong run of form.
