AC Milan injury news: Maignan, Ibrahimovic, Tomori and Bennacer boosts

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has received crucial boosts on the injury front with positive news on a quartet of key players.

The Rossoneri are preparing for Friday night’s encounter with Torino desperate to break out of our current slump, which has seen us suffer three consecutive defeats in Serie A and fall out of the top four in the standings.

With heavy losses along the way, the pressure is building on Pioli and the players to get us back on track, and so getting experienced and fundamental individuals back from injury will hopefully help us rediscover some form.

According to MilanNews, Zlatan Ibrahimovic took part in full group training on Tuesday and it’s suggested that he could be in contention to be called up for the Torino game.

Naturally, given how long he’s been sidelined for, he’s going to be well short of match fitness, but it’s hoped that he can start to get some minutes and build up his involvement gradually.

Meanwhile, there was good news on Fikayo Tomori and Ismael Bennacer too as the pair are said to be improving and are targeting our Champions League clash with Tottenham next week as a possible comeback game.

On top of that, there was finally a more positive update on Mike Maignan too, with the Milan goalkeeper sidelined for months now with a troublesome calf issue.

It’s reported that the latest tests carried out on the Frenchman went well, and in turn he will now step up his training with the view of edging closer to a return, but it will depend on how his calf responds.

Nevertheless, that is a step in the right direction, and it’s hoped that he can continue to make progress now and be restored to the Milan XI as soon as possible.

While there’s no guarantee that getting back these key players will solve all of our problems, their presence, experience, leadership and quality will undoubtedly make a big difference, and so it’s hoped that not only can we see them return in the coming weeks, but also now stay healthy to play key roles between now and the end of the season.
