AC Milan injury news: Ibrahimovic update after blow during Juventus win

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will undergo further tests on Tuesday as AC Milan nervously wait for clarity over the knee injury he suffered in the win at Juventus.

The 39-year-old picked up the concerning-looking injury in the second half in Turin, as it didn’t appear as though there was any contact at the time as he clutched his knee and eventually conceded that he had to come off.

While he watched the game from the sidelines and looked in good spirits, it remains to be seen just how serious the setback is and if he risks missing the final three games of the Serie A season.

Milan moved back into the top four after our 3-0 win over Juventus, and so it’s absolutely crucial we pick up six points from our next two games against Torino and Cagliari to stay in a strong position.

Having to do so without Ibrahimovic will certainly complicate matters, and while it’s been suggested that the Swede may have avoided a serious injury, it could still be enough to rule him out of the next two games with a race to be fit to face Atalanta on the last weekend of the campaign.

That’s according to respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, as reported by MilanNews, as we must now wait for confirmation from the additional testing to find out how long we’ll have to make do without our talisman.

Ante Rebic came off the bench to produce a stunning strike and double our lead against Juventus, and so it’s hoped that the Croatian international is given the nod in Ibrahimovic’s likely absence.

However, Stefano Pioli has Mario Mandzukic and Rafael Leao at his disposal too, and so time will tell if he prefers either of them for the encounter with Torino, as Milan look to take another major step towards qualifying for the Champions League with a win in midweek.
