Key injury boost for Milan ahead of Juventus showdown

AC Milan have received an injury boost ahead of our clash with Juventus this weekend as Fikayo Tomori has resumed group training.

The Rossoneri have recovered brilliantly after suffering defeat on the opening weekend to make a strong start to our Serie A campaign, winning four consecutive games to sit joint top of the standings.

That included a crucial win over rivals Napoli last time out, but Tomori was replaced in the latter stages of that encounter after picking up an injury setback.

Fortunately, as per Antonio Vitiello, the 27-year-old resumed group training on Friday, and he is now considered to be recovered from his muscle issue ahead of our showdown with Juventus on Sunday night.

Time will tell if Massimiliano Allegri believes he’s ready to start or perhaps there will still be an element of caution in bringing him back into the fold, but having got the green light from the medical staff, it’s hoped that he’s able to continue in the Milan starting line-up in order to maintain our consistency and familiarity in the side.

With Juventus sitting just a point adrift of us in the league table and remaining undefeated thus far, it promises to be a difficult assignment for the Rossoneri as we look to keep our winning run going, but it would certainly be a major boost for belief and confidence if we were able to secure all three points on Sunday ahead of the international break.

The back-three of Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic has worked well to this point and is now a settled backline in front of Mike Maignan which has kept three clean sheets in our last four league outings, and so Allegri will be eager to keep that solid foundation in place, as we look for a sixth consecutive win across all competitions.
