Crucial injury boost for Milan, key trio could be in contention vs Juventus

AC Milan have travelled to Riyadh for our Italian Super Cup clash with Juventus, and there was positive news on the injury front for new boss Sergio Conceicao.

The Portuguese tactician is busy preparing for his first game in charge of the Rossoneri on Friday as we look to take a step closer to securing silverware, but it certainly won’t be easy for him given the lack of time he’s had with the group since being appointed on Monday.

It had been hoped that he would at least receive good news in terms of availability of his players, and as per MilanNews, there was a significant boost as Christian Pulisic trained with the rest of the group prior to the squad leaving for Saudi Arabia, and so he is expected to be back in contention to feature having recovered from his injury.

Meanwhile, there’s also hope that Rafael Leao, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Yunus Musah will be available too as they’ve also travelled with their teammates, but it’s unclear at this stage if they will have sufficiently recovered in time to be involved.

In contrast, there was confirmation that Samuel Chukwueze will now be set for a spell on the sidelines after he picked up an injury during our draw with Roma this past weekend, and the Nigerian winger is expected to be ruled out for around a month at least as he joins both Noah Okafor and Alessandro Florenzi in the treatment room.

Nevertheless, Milan appear to be edging closer to having as strong a squad as possible at Conceicao’s disposal, and the sooner the better as it will be hugely helpful for the new Milan boss to be able to work with as many players as possible in the coming days and weeks to get his ideas and style across to the entire group.

Pulisic has been a vital influence in the attacking third for us so far this season, and with the quality that Leao, Loftus-Cheek and Musah bring to the side, they will be desperate to make a positive impression on Conceicao to ensure that they will have key roles in the Milan starting line-up moving forward.
