Costly injury blow for Milan as key man suffers setback ahead of pre-season

AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic reportedly faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury whilst featuring at the World Cup.

The 27-year-old was replaced in the second half of the USA’s defeat to Belgium earlier this week, and it appears as though further tests have revealed an injury setback for the Milan ace.

After joining us in 2023, Pulisic has gone on to establish himself as a key figure for the Rossoneri with 42 goals and 27 assists in 134 appearances, and so he is undoubtedly set to play a pivotal role under new boss Ruben Amorim moving forward.

However, his pre-season preparations look set to be significantly disrupted, as Antonio Vitiello reports that the USA international suffered a micro fracture in his right leg, and he is expected to need three to six weeks to fully recover from the blow.

That in turn means it will be a race against time for Pulisic to fully recovery and prove himself to be fit enough to feature for our Serie A season opener against Torino on August 23, while missing the whole of pre-season also means playing catch-up in terms of match fitness and sharpness which in turn could see our star man need time to get back up to speed when he does return to the pitch.

Naturally, he would have been given an extended break this summer anyway after his exploits at the World Cup, but this is a frustrating blow for Amorim, who would have been desperate to have as close to a fully fit squad at his disposal as possible as he begins this new challenge.

Nevertheless, Pulisic will now need time to recover, and it’s hoped that when he does return to action, he will be able to continue to play a decisive role for us in the final third, as he’ll likely be leaned on heavily by the new Milan boss to provide us with quality, creativity and a clinical edge in front of goal.
