AC Milan have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Igli Tare to become our new sporting director.
The Rossoneri’s management reshuffle over the past year or so hasn’t worked, as although we lifted the Italian Super Cup during this campaign, we have fallen well short of expectations and standards across other competitions, which has culminated in a lack of additional trophies and missing out on European qualification.

Frustration and anger within the fanbase has grown and has largely been directed toward ownership and management in particular, as a rebuild is undoubtedly needed at that level first before we address the coaching situation and playing squad.
It appears as though Milan are on the verge of making one pivotal decision ahead of the summer, with Matteo Moretto reporting that a verbal agreement has been reached with Tare to become our sporting director, and he will put pen to paper on a three-year deal.
While we can analyse and assess his track record after his time at Lazio, it ultimately won’t mean much unless he gets it right when dealing with the circumstances and issues that he’ll face at Milan, should he arrive as touted.
Whether it’s making big decisions on the futures of key individuals, selling those who are deemed surplus to requirements or signing players who are at the standard needed to take us forward, Tare has a major to-do list if he is appointed, while it remains to be seen if it will be Sergio Conceicao who remains in charge and works alongside him in rejuvenating this squad.
That will ultimately prove to be the biggest decision as we need an aligned vision at all levels to rebuild us and create an environment and culture that will get us back to winning, and if there isn’t synergy and the backing from the hierarchy to do that, it remains to be seen what the future holds.
For now though, if it is to be Tare, it’s hoped that he has the personality, character and decision-making qualities to help us bounce back from what has been a bitterly disappointing year, which starts with the inadequate job that the current regime have done in constructing a squad that has shown to be not good enough.
