AC Milan are reportedly set for a second meeting with Igli Tare on Thursday, as the club continues its search to appoint a new sporting director.
The Rossoneri have been both underwhelming and disappointing this season, as although we still have a chance of lifting another trophy in the form of the Coppa Italia, our Serie A form has been inconsistent and short of the club’s high standards.

While the coaching staff and players have to take their share of responsibility for that, it starts at the top with ownership and management, and how they’ve built this current squad.
It’s become clear that it isn’t good enough to compete at the top level for major honours, and so changes are expected this summer with speculation heavily linking us with appointing a sporting director to oversee a fresh start in recruitment.
According to MilanNews, club CEO Giorgio Furlani will meet with Tare for a second time on Thursday after initial talks last week, and so it remains to be seen if the latest round of discussions between the pair are decisive in that he is identified as the top candidate for the job.
It’s important that the club moves at pace to get this sorted as a coaching change to replace Sergio Conceicao could follow at the end of the season, and so whether it’s Tare or another candidate, they must be part of that process too in order to ensure that there is synergy and alignment between the hierarchy and Milan boss over the future vision.
The report above adds that Atalanta’s Tony D’Amico hasn’t been ruled out just yet and so it remains to be seen if he becomes a front-runner again if talks with Tare don’t progress, but importantly, Milan are taking steps it seems to get this appointment made, and hopefully it will mark the start of building a more competitive and talented squad.
