The Frenchman scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, and Stefano Pioli will undoubtedly have valued his presence and contribution highly, particularly having scored some of the most crucial goals on our road to the Scudetto.
With his current contract with Milan set to run until June 2023, MilanNews now report that discussions have begun over a contract renewal for Giroud this summer.
Should an agreement be reached to extend his stay with the Rossoneri further, it would be a smart piece of business from the club given the veteran striker is still evidently capable of playing an important role for us moving forward as we look to compete on multiple fronts.
In addition to the quality he provides in the final third, his experience, leadership and pedigree at the highest level will continue to see him establish himself as a leading figure in a relatively young squad, and provided the club add more talent and quality around him to create more chances more consistently, he should relish the opportunity to continue to lead the line for Milan.
Given how seamlessly he settled with the Rossoneri and as a driving force in our success, it would seem likely that a new deal will be agreed, and it will be an important bit of business from the club’s perspective as we look to preserve what we have, and continue to build on our success over the last two years.
