Boost for Milan as top prospect pens contract to commit future

AC Milan have confirmed that youngster Francesco Camarda has signed his first professional contract with the club which will keep him with us until June 2027.

The 16-year-old has come through the youth ranks and is widely regarded as one of the top prospects at the club and for Italy, given the ability and potential that he has shown thus far with his quality in the final third and in front of goal.

Having made his Serie A debut last season, there was much speculation over his future amid touted interest from elsewhere, but as confirmed by the club’s official statement, Camarda has now put pen to paper on his first deal to commit his future to the Rossoneri. Fabrizio Romano reports that several clubs from abroad made an effort to prise him away, and so it’s a big boost to secure this deal.

A Milan native, Camarda scored 14 goals in 41 appearances for the U19s side last season across all competitions, while he continues to impress at youth level for Italy. While there is still a long way to go in his career, there is hope that he has a big future ahead of him for both club and country.

Having now secured his new contract and dismissed speculation around his future, the talented youngster will now be able to fully focus on continuing to improve and develop his game, as he targets a breakthrough at senior level under Paulo Fonseca.

He will of course benefit from the club’s push to establish Milan Futuro in the upcoming campaign, giving him an opportunity to play regularly at a higher level, and thus having a better chance of making an impression on Fonseca and proving his ability to make an impact in the first-team when needed.

Milan announced the signing of Alvaro Morata this week as we bolstered our attacking options and filled the void left behind by Olivier Giroud, but if we are to compete across multiple competitions this year, we’ll need more firepower than just Luka Jovic in reserve.

The expectation is that we’ll delve into the transfer market again to bring in another reinforcement, but it will be fascinating to see if Camarda can now make his mark and force his way into Fonseca’s plans sooner rather than later, and his form for Milan Futuro will no doubt have a big influence on that planning and strategy.
