Double Milan exit touted at end of season amid ongoing disappointment

Amid our ongoing disappointment this season, AC Milan are reportedly still expected to part company with Sergio Conceicao at the end of the campaign.

The Rossoneri suffered a defeat to Atalanta on Sunday night at San Siro, in a potentially decisive blow to our hopes of qualifying for the Champions League, and perhaps Europe at all.

While we still have the chance of lifting more silverware in the form of the Coppa Italia, Conceicao’s success in cup competitions is unlikely to be enough to mask the issues that he simply hasn’t been able to fix as we’ve not seen consistent and sustained improvement during his tenure.

Responsibility for that must be shared by ownership, management and the players, but it appears as though Milan will make another coaching change this summer with Conceicao not providing enough solutions over the past few months to warrant more time.

The Milan boss was bullish after our loss to Atalanta, insisting that he has felt disrespected amid ongoing speculation over who will be his successor come the end of the season, but that’s a reality that he must seemingly continue to face in the coming weeks.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Conceicao’s tenure is expected to be ended when the current season concludes, while Joao Felix’s loan stint will not be made permanent either as he continues to underwhelm during his time with us.

The 25-year-old has contributed just one goal and one assist in 14 appearances for the Rossoneri thus far, and so with his high wages and significant transfer fee, it doesn’t appear as though he’s done enough to warrant a permanent stay.

In turn, should Milan decide against signing him, that would seem to be the sensible choice, but that shouldn’t cover up the need to appoint a sporting director as a priority in order to shape our strategy and oversee our moves in the transfer market moving forward.

While there are talented players in the current squad and we’re underperforming, the way in which this squad has been assembled hasn’t been good enough, and so with Conceicao tipped to be replaced, it’s hoped that we see significant changes across the board ahead of next season to ensure that we get back on the right track towards being competitive and challenging for major honours next year and beyond.
