Progress made in contract renewal talks with influential Milan ace

AC Milan have reportedly made progress in contract negotiations with Ismael Bennacer as he edges closer to agreeing a renewal.

The 25-year-old Algerian international has established himself as a fundamental figure in Stefano Pioli’s side, and will continue to be a pivotal part of our push for further success moving forward.

While his current contract runs until 2024, Milan are not wasting time to agree on new terms as it makes sense to extend his stay now if possible and secure his future to allow him to fully focus on his football.

According to MilanNews, a meeting took place between Milan officials and his agent Enzo Raiola on Wednesday, and it’s suggested that the Rossoneri have increased their contract offer to around €4m-a-year, with Bennacer said to want around €4.5m per year.

In turn, it sounds as though the distance between the two parties is closing and ultimately there is optimism that a deal will be agreed in the coming weeks or months.

The report goes on to add that further meetings will likely take place to reach that point, but there is a positive atmosphere surrounding the situation which is a major boost as it’s imperative that Bennacer remains a key part of our plans in the coming years.

Beyond his defensive qualities as he continues to provide great protection for the backline, his technical ability and composure in possession have ensured that he has been a hugely influential figure in both phases of the game for us for some time now. Further, as he continues to gain experience in Europe and develop his game, he still has room for improvement and we could yet see the best of him in the future.

That is why agreeing a new contract now would be beneficial for all concerned, and it would give us stability and solidity in knowing that we’ve got the foundation of the side in midfield set in place with Sandro Tonali also under contract until 2027, with the pair building an integral partnership at the heart of the Milan XI.
