However, with the new Serie A campaign set to start in around a month’s time, Milan have now started to put together a pre-season plan to ensure that the players are all fit and in top condition ahead of the first game.

As confirmed on the club’s site, the Rossoneri will play Real Madrid on August 8 in Klagenfurt, Austria, with the game being part of the #AthletesVersus Cup as it’s noted that further games will be announced in the coming days.

Following his return to the Bernabeu this summer, it means an always welcome reunion between Milan and Carlo Ancelotti.

Meanwhile, as per the club’s tweet below, the pre-season schedule begins on July 17 with the visit of Pro Sesto to Milanello, which will no doubt be seen as a tune-up and an opportunity for players to get some match fitness and sharpness.

It’s also added by Antonio Vitiello that Milan and Juventus could look to organise a friendly for July 24, but that has yet to be officially announced by either club.

Considering the source though, it’s likely to go forward, and so that will be another interesting and difficult test for Milan as the players are put through their paces at Milanello again this week.

All of this is in preparation for the new season, and particularly with our return to the Champions League to consider, it’s important that we get top-level opposition to test us this summer.

That said, it’s equally as vital that Milan conclude their remaining transfer business as soon as possible to allow any more new recruits to settle, adjust and get minutes under their respective belts in pre-season so that they are ready for the Serie A opener.

Here’s how Milan’s pre-season schedule looks thus far, as per MilanNews.it.

17 July: Milan v Pro Sesto
31 July: Nice v Milan
