Talks continue as Milan look to secure key signing to address major void

AC Milan are reportedly prioritising the signing of Alvaro Morata to bolster our attack this summer, and talks are ongoing to reach an agreement.

The 31-year-old is currently on international duty with Spain at EURO 2024, and so that is likely to slow the process down and delay any potential transfer until later this month.

Morata is coming off the back of scoring 21 goals and providing five assists in 48 appearances across all competitions last season with Atletico Madrid, while he continues to play a pivotal role for Spain in their ongoing pursuit of success this summer.

However, speculation over his future is rife, and according to MilanNews, Milan have continued talks this week with his representatives in a bid to reach an agreement on personal terms and move forward with his signing.

It’s added that there is optimism within the club that a deal will be done for our now priority target, and that while we’ll pay his €13m clause to prise him away from Atleti, there is still work to be done on the contract offer to agree on terms with Morata himself.

Following the exit of Olivier Giroud last month, there is a glaring void up front in the Milan squad that must be addressed this summer, and new boss Paulo Fonseca will undoubtedly have had a big say in his preferred reinforcement to strengthen our attack.

It’s vital that Milan bring in a player that suits his ideas and style of play, and based on the report above, it certainly sounds as though Morata ticks all the right boxes for him and is now firmly at the top of our priority list in terms of transfer targets.

There is some concern given we’re now almost in mid-July and the Rossoneri have yet to make significant moves to improve the squad, and it’s certainly needed based on our performances and results last season.

In turn, it’s hoped that if Morata is indeed our top target, we can get a deal done sooner rather than later to get that issue addressed, and subsequently be in a position to turn our focus elsewhere and continue to bring in new faces that can improve us and raise the level of quality within the squad for Fonseca.
