AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid, with the Spaniard signing a contract until June 2028.
The 31-year-old has had spells with Real Madrid, Juventus and Chelsea previously, and while he has scored relatively consistently wherever he has been, he bagged 58 goals and 14 assists in 154 appearances for Atleti prior to his latest move.

As per the club’s official statement, Morata is now a Milan player having put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him with us until June 2028, while there is the option to extend for an additional year included in the agreement.
The Rossoneri have also confirmed that the Spanish international will wear the No.7 shirt, while Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal is worth €13m, with Milan triggering his release clause to prise him away.
Further, Morata also has 36 goals in 80 caps for Spain, and having led them to EURO 2024 success this summer as captain, he has shown his quality and experience at both club and international level over many year to suggest that he could be a top acquisition for us.
It makes him a sensible addition to the squad, and arguably a safe signing given the expectation that he can come in and do a job immediately. That said, it’s hoped that he proves to be an ideal fit for Paulo Fonseca’s style of play and system, as that is ultimately the most important aspect which will determine if he’s a successful signing or not.
With his experience and leadership, he’ll hopefully be an important presence in the dressing room too as we embark on a new cycle, and particularly after losing Olivier Giroud earlier this summer, he has a big void to fill at Milan as we wait to see if further attacking reinforcements arrive this summer to provide support.
Morata arguably wouldn’t have been top of the list for many fans, but the Milan hierarchy and Fonseca evidently believe he’s a strong reinforcement for us, and he’ll hopefully repay that faith on the pitch in the upcoming campaign and beyond.
