AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has been ruled out for 10 weeks as he recovers after undergoing surgery on his injured wrist.
The French international has been an excellent addition to the side since his move from Lille this past summer, cementing his place as our first choice goalkeeper.

However, as confirmed by the club’s website, he has had to undergo a procedure on his wrist to repair ligament damage as well as a fracture to his bone which has required a screw to be inserted, and he’ll now have to sit out for 10 weeks in total as part of his rehabilitation.
The 26-year-old has kept three clean sheets in nine appearances for Milan thus far, conceding 10 goals.
His absence will now likely result in Ciprian Tatarusanu stepping up and filling the void, while the Rossoneri confirmed the signing of Antonio Mirante this week in order to provide cover as youngster Alessandro Plizzari is also currently sidelined by injury.
Time will tell whether or not we’re able to continue to look as impressive defensively in Maignan’s absence, but such was the quality and composure that he displayed between the posts to start the season, it is undoubtedly a major blow for Stefano Pioli to be without him for such a lengthy period of time.
Nevertheless, it’s hoped that Tatarusanu’s experience will help him adequately cover for his teammate, although it remains to be seen if Mirante can push him in training and potentially surpass him in the pecking order in the coming weeks.
For now though, we wish Maignan a speedy and full recovery, and it’s certainly hoped that he comes through his rehabilitation with no complications or setbacks and that 10-week window proves to be accurate.
