AC Milan have announced that Sergio Conceicao has been appointed as our new Head Coach, replacing Paulo Fonseca.
The Rossoneri confirmed on Monday that Fonseca had been dismissed after just 200 days in charge of the club, as it came following an indifferent and inconsistent start in the first half of the campaign.

Aside from results not being satisfactory, Milan’s performances didn’t show enough to suggest that we were making significant enough improvements and moving in the right direction with a clear identity and style that was consistently effective, while there has also been signs of discontent within the group given some key individuals have been dropped from the line-up through the first few months of the season.
In turn, the Milan management made the decision to dismiss Fonseca this week, and as per the club’s official statement, Conceicao has now been appointed as his successor.
It’s added that the Portuguese tactician has put pen to paper on a contract that runs until June 2026, and there was no mention of any option being included in the agreement to extend his stay.
Nevertheless, it’s a critical decision from the club’s hierarchy having got the Fonseca choice wrong, and so there is pressure on all concerned to get our season on track and to start closing the gap on our rivals in Serie A as we look to at least secure a top-four finish.
Conceicao was among the names paired with the Milan job this past summer when Stefano Pioli departed, and so although it didn’t work out earlier this year, it’s hoped that having now been installed as Milan boss, it proves to be an excellent pairing.
While he’ll be focused on making a winning start as he looks to build confidence and belief, it will be crucial that he succeeds where Fonseca failed too in terms of implementing his ideas and style more effectively, and so it will be intriguing to watch how that develops in the New Year.
