Talks touted as Milan look to bolster attacking options ahead of new season

AC Milan are reportedly set to continue talks with Roma in the coming days over the possible signing of Tammy Abraham.

The Rossoneri have already confirmed the addition of Alvaro Morata to the squad this summer, and while Luka Jovic has extended his stay at the club to provide depth and competition, we do still seem a bit too light up front if we hope to compete in multiple competitions this season.

While Morata is an experienced and high-level acquisition to help fill the void left behind by Olivier Giroud, it seems as though Milan are keen to add more firepower ahead of the new campaign and Abraham has emerged as the priority target.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old is still considered the top choice to address our issue, and talks are expected with Roma to try and find an agreement on a transfer.

Time will tell if the two clubs are able to find a compromise for the deal to materialise, but Abraham would certainly be an interesting addition to the squad for various reasons.

While he did return in the latter stages of last season, he missed most of the campaign after suffering a serious knee injury, and so it’s hoped that if he does arrive, he has been able to put that setback fully behind him, and is now returning to the levels that he showcased previously.

Since joining the Giallorossi in 2021, he has scored 37 goals and provided 13 assists in 119 appearances, and after impressive spells at Chelsea, Aston Villa and Bristol City prior to that, he has undoubtedly shown a consistent ability to find the back of the net despite different sets of challenges.

At 26, he still has room for improvement and development too, and so if he ultimately fits the bill in terms of what Paulo Fonseca wants in his options up front, then it’s hoped that a deal can be done to bring him to San Siro.

That is essentially the theme of our summer transfer window business though, as the fundamental factor to consider is whether or not any new signing fits the ideas and style that Fonseca is implementing, as if they do, it gives him and Milan the best possible chance of enjoying a successful season this year to begin his tenure on a positive note.
