AC Milan have reportedly reached an agreement with Verona over the signing of Filippo Terracciano, in a deal said to be worth €5.5m in total.
The Rossoneri will hopefully be looking to add a number of reinforcements this month, not only to cover injury concerns, but to also raise the level within the squad and improve on the first half of the campaign.
Matteo Gabbia has returned from his loan spell at Villarreal and will help with the injury crisis in defence, but as per Sky Sport Italia, Milan are set to make Terracciano our next new arrival in a €5.5m move from Verona, with a 10 percent sell-on clause also expected to be included.
The 20-year-old has made 41 appearances at senior level for Verona, 19 of which have come this season as he has stepped up into a bigger role, while his versatility has been key given he’s featured in various roles in addition to his more natural position out wide.
It’s a promising potential addition for Milan as we look to add youth and a homegrown player, and it’s hoped that if it does indeed materialise, that Terracciano proves to be a valuable signing for Stefano Pioli.
With eight caps for Italy U20s to his name, the Verona-born midfielder could have an excellent opportunity ahead of him, and with the Rossoneri still looking to compete on multiple fronts this season and seemingly opening the door for youth players to get more opportunities to impress, he’ll hope to be a key part of that strategy.
Pioli’s side take on Empoli this weekend as we to look to further solidify our place in the top four in Serie A, while we’ll have Coppa Italia and Europa League commitments ahead in the coming months too. That in turn requires quality squad depth to cope with that fixture list and the subsequent fitness issues that could come with it, but Terracciano could prove to be an important, long-term signing.
