AC Milan have reportedly reached an agreement with Guarani to sign goalkeeper Devis Vasquez in a permanent deal.
The goalkeeping department has become a concern for the Rossoneri this season, largely down to Mike Maignan’s extended absence through injury.

Ciprian Tatarusanu has stepped in to deputise, but given question marks remain over his ability to efficiently play that back-up role coupled with the fact that his current contract expires in June, doubts have been raised over whether or not he is a long-term option.
Further, Antonio Mirante’s deal will also expire in June, and so Milan will need to bolster our options in that department and it would certainly be a welcome addition if it were a long-term solution.
As per Fabrizio Romano, the Rossoneri have reached an agreement to sign Vasquez from Guarani, and he will join us in a permanent deal while Marco Sportiello is also expected to be signed in the summer as a more experienced option to replace Tatarusanu if he moves on.
It’s added by MilanNews that Vasquez will undergo his medical tests on Monday before travelling back home, and he will then return to Italy on January 10 as he begins a new chapter in his career.
The 24-year-old will undoubtedly welcome the move to Europe as a major moment for him personally, and it will be fascinating to see what the Milan management have seen in him to be convinced that he is capable of becoming a key member of our squad moving forward.
There’s no doubt that we needed to refresh things in the goalkeeping department behind Maignan, and Sportiello is a sensible target given his experience in Serie A will allow him to step in when needed and hopefully carry out his job with minimal fuss.
In turn, that takes the pressure off Vasquez, but it will be interesting to see just how capable he is of playing his role, pushing those ahead of him in the pecking order and whether or not he has the mentality and ability to answer the call positively if he is needed in the future.
