AC Milan transfer news: Renato Sanches talks expected

AC Milan are reportedly looking to hold talks with Lille over Renato Sanches again in the coming weeks.

As things stand, the Rossoneri are set to see Franck Kessie leave this summer, with the midfielder’s current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Should that materialise, that will leave a large void in Milan’s midfield that must be filled with a top-level player, and it appears as though the club are keen on making Sanches that solution.

As per Antonio Vitiello, after Milan failed to secure a deal in the January transfer window, they will try again in the coming weeks to open up discussions with Lille over a potential deal.

While Sanches has had his ups and down in his career thus far, there is no denying the quality that he possesses, as he has shown it at a high level for both club and country.

Coupled with the fact that he’s still only 24 years of age, there is a lot more to come from him, and so it’s hoped that Milan are able to make progress in talks over a possible transfer, particularly ahead of the summer window as there will surely be competition for his signature.

Sanches ultimately shares a number of key characteristics with Kessie in that they’re both physically imposing, athletic and technically sound midfielders, who can both make their mark on a game and control the tempo and possession.

With that in mind, if we do lose Kessie, which seems highly likely at this stage, signing Sanches would be a very smart move, and echoes the business we did last summer after replacing a free-agent in Gianluigi Donnarumma with a top class successor in Mike Maignan.
