Ibrahimovic injury news: Milan confirm six-week treatment course for knee issue

AC Milan have confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will undergo conservative treatment on his knee, thus avoiding the need for surgery.

The 39-year-old sustained the issue during our win over Juventus last weekend, as he appeared to tweak his knee despite there being no contact.

Having come off with great concern surrounding the severity of the issue, the Swede has undergone further tests this week to understand the full extent of the problem.

As noted by MilanNews, the Rossoneri have released an official update on Ibrahimovic and confirmed that he will now receive conservative treatment for six weeks, and so it would appear that he has avoided having to go under the knife.

While that’s good news in the long term, it does mean Ibrahimovic will miss our final two Serie A games of the season, while as per their tweet below, Sweden have confirmed that he’ll now sadly miss the European Championships this summer.

From a Milan perspective, it’s hoped that we can build on the win over Torino in midweek where we bagged a 7-0 victory despite Ibrahimovic’s absence, and get the three points on Sunday against Cagliari which will ultimately secure our place in the Champions League next season.

For Ibrahimovic, he’ll now have time to recover and prepare for pre-season with us, but it will no doubt be a huge disappointment for him that he won’t be playing a part this summer for Sweden.
