AC Milan are reportedly set to agree on new terms with Olivier Giroud which will see him extend his stay at the club.
The 36-year-old has been a crucial player for the Rossoneri since his arrival, scoring 23 goals and providing nine assists in 57 appearances across all competitions.

Particularly with Zlatan Ibrahimovic ruled out for a significant period, Giroud has stepped up and led the line for us brilliantly and has developed a habit of scoring important goals.
Coupled with his goalscoring achievements for France, he continues to prove that he can deliver at the top level both for club and country, and so it’s important that Milan secure his future with his current contract set to expire next summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there’s good news on that front as it’s suggested that the two parties have reached a verbal agreement on a new contract, and the expectation is that it will be officially confirmed in the coming weeks.
While it’s important that Milan do start to think long term too with a younger option to bolster our squad, it’s imperative at this moment to keep Giroud at the club as we look to build on our success from last season.
Further, Romano adds in his tweet below that Milan are also pushing to sign on new terms with Ismael Bennacer, and so if we can get both deals done in the next month or so, it would be a huge boost for all concerned as we look to continue progressing and establishing ourselves as a contender both in Serie A and in Europe.
Of the two, it would appear as though Giroud is closer to putting pen to paper, but his primary focus for now will likely be on preparing himself for the resumption of the domestic season, with Milan making the trip to face Salernitana on January 4.
Should Ibrahimovic remain sidelined for an extended period yet, Giroud’s goals will be fundamental in our pursuit of success, and that will in turn only reemphasise the importance he has in this current squad.
