AC Milan news: Leao, Bennacer, Kalulu contract renewal updates

AC Milan are reportedly busy trying to secure new contracts for key players, following on from Theo Hernandez and Matteo Gabbia recently signing new deals.

The Rossoneri are well placed for a final push to secure silverware this season, as we remain in the hunt for the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia.

While it’s hoped that the players can maintain our recent form and enjoy some long-awaited success in the coming months, it’s important that the club are continuing to plan for both the short term and long term.

After an underwhelming January transfer window in which Milan opted against making any notable signings, the focus for the hierarchy over the past month has seemingly been on ensuring that the current players who are important to our plans moving forward have their respective futures sorted out.

Leao, Bennacer and Kalulu in line to sign new Milan contracts

Both Hernandez and Gabbia were the most recent players to put pen to paper on new contracts, and as per Antonio Vitiello, Ismael Bennacer, Rafael Leao and Pierre Kalulu could soon follow.

As per his first tweet, it’s suggested that Bennacer’s new agreement is expected to be announced first, while he’s stated that the Algerian international will pen a deal worth €3m-a-year and one that will run until 2026.

With regards to Leao, it’s suggested that there is confidence a contract renewal will be agreed with the in-form 22-year-old, with Vitiello noting that it will also run until 2026 as per the first link, with the Portuguese winger set to earn around €4m-a-year plus bonuses.

As for Kalulu, Vitiello adds that his new deal could extend his stay at Milan to 2025, and although no specific figures are touted, it’s suggested that the youngster will also see his salary adjusted.

All three players have proven their importance to Milan and Stefano Pioli again this season, with Kalulu stepping in and impressing while we’ve struggled with injuries suffered by the likes of Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori.

That growth and improvement has shown he can be a key part of the squad, and so his new deal is a deserved reward.

While Bennacer continues to showcase his quality when called upon in the heart of the midfield, the biggest jump this season has been made by Leao, who has bagged 10 goals and six assists in 27 appearances so far this year.

He has matured and developed into a fundamental piece of the Milan attack, and while it’s hoped that he can continue that form up until the end of the campaign, a new deal makes sense at this stage as we want him to stay at Milan and continue to evolve into a top-level player. With a new deal, that will certainly help secure his future, as it does with the likes of Hernandez, and it remains to be seen if any additional new deals will be handed out in the near future.
