AC Milan injury news: Ibrahimovic boost ahead of Benevento clash

AC Milan could be in line to receive an injury boost from Zlatan Ibrahimovic ahead of our encounter with Benevento this weekend.

The 39-year-old has missed the last two games with a muscle problem, with the Rossoneri losing both clashes while scoring just one goal.

Stefano Pioli has seen his side drop out of the top four in Serie A as a result, and so it’s now must-win territory from now until the end of the season if we want to secure Champions League qualification.

Given Ibrahimovic has scored 17 goals and provided three assists in just 25 appearances so far this season, it would certainly help if the Swede was fully fit and spearheading our attack to give us quality in the final third when it really matters.

After sitting out against Lazio, MilanNews report that Ibrahimovic trained with the group on Tuesday, with those who weren’t involved at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday night reporting to Milanello for the session.

That’s an important indication that he is on the right track, and so it’s now hoped that his condition continues to improve as the week goes on and he’s given the green light from the medical staff to start against Benevento on Saturday night.

Mario Mandzukic stepped in against Lazio to lead the line and offered a little more than Rafael Leao who struggled in the same role, and so it’s vital that we get Ibrahimovic back as soon as possible without the risk of re-injuring himself as it’s win or bust for Milan in terms of a top-four finish now.
