AC Milan are reportedly moving closer to agreeing a contract renewal with Ismael Bennacer, and should a deal be done, it would be a major boost for the Rossoneri.
After joining us in August 2019, the 25-year-old Algerian international has gone on to make 126 appearances for the Rossoneri, cementing himself as a pillar of the side and an integral figure in our success and progression.

Still only 25, Bennacer has shown quality and maturity beyond his age already, but his best years are arguably – and hopefully – still ahead of him. Given the way in which he stitches everything together for us and is a fundamental presence in our midfield, it’s of paramount importance that we keep him for as long as possible.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, a contract renewal is ‘getting closer and closer’ with an offer of a deal worth €4m-a-year touted as there is said to be optimism about an extension being agreed between the two parties.
Despite the exit of former teammate Franck Kessie, Bennacer has remained the engine room of this Milan side, showcasing quality in both phases of the game to remain a pivotal figure for Stefano Pioli.
Not only that, but the partnership that he is now building with Sandro Tonali in the heart of this Milan XI is a joy to watch, with the pair hopefully remaining the backbone of this side for a long time to come.
Bennacer and Tonali complement each other so well and are continuing to build great chemistry and understanding, and they will surely be key in any future success we achieve.
From his ability to break things up defensively and provide protection for the backline, to his composure and technical quality to shift the ball up the pitch quickly to help transition from defence to attack, Bennacer has proven to be one of our star performers for some time now.
With that in mind, there is no doubt that a contract renewal is well deserved, and as we try to not only maintain the level of success and progression we’ve seen over the last few years but also try to continue to kick on, he will play a huge role in that process and it’s imperative that we keep hold of him.
Milan have a real task on our hands this season to catch Napoli and displace them at the top of the Serie A table as we try to defend our Scudetto crown and make progress in Europe.
However, a fully fit and in-form Bennacer makes a huge difference. Not only is he a driving force in midfield but he makes us tick and when he and Tonali dictate the tempo and possession of a game consistently, there is no doubt that we can put together a run of form to compete for major honours again this season.
